Hey Aaron, The BB ball starts rolling for another year! I think it's been a little flat myself but I guess you're right, we should wait and see what Gretel's like on Rove and I imagine 10 will be pumping out the promos all week. They're telling us that the housemates will be older and wiser this year. That'd be good, but should we really believe them? And what do you reckon the odds are that we'll get a turkeyslap this year? Baz Hi Baz, I think there will be some older, wiser people this year - comparitively to last season, at least. But there's still going to be some young hotties, they're still going to throw their teen demograph its bone, so there'll be some young hot lad in there, it goes without saying. And what I think a lot of the talk misses is that the young hot blondes - there's sure to be one of them, too - are not necessarily for the teen demograph, but for the older male audience the show does pull (which Uplate caters to, and FHM, etc, capitalise on). I think you'll find most of the teen boys who watch the show actually tend to identify more with the larrikin (we'll have to get one of those, and no doubt they may kill two birds by making him a hot larrikin - as we've seen, before). No, I don't think there'll be a turkeyslap, this year. And I'll tell you why - because even if there is, you can rest assured we're not going to know about it. Same with racist comments - they'll be very careful not to have a repeat of the BBUK scandal (where the Aussie press gave the show a taste of the kind of treatment this series can expect). So I'm in two minds about the impact of the scandals and press attention (and, of course, the clamping down on the show by authorities). It has secured us a different batch to last year, and I think that is mission accomplished in many ways, and I have noted a hypocrisy in many of the forum boards I've seen so far in the many fans who have complained about last year's batch of models and are praising the idea to have an older, wiser bunch, but who also despise the moral crusade against the show. I'm essentially in a similar boat, but we must remember that without that crusade, we wouldn't have a bunch of older wiser housemates who are less likely to slap one another with their dicks (whether Kris Noble tries to convince us it's a coincidental decison, or not). But the problem I do have with the moral crusade and the new restructions is that it means that if anything does happen in the house, we're just not going to be shown. That annoys me. Of course, if there was an actual turkeyslap, you would imagine that somebody in the house would make it impossible for it to be covered up, because they'd note the importance of it (they'd have trouble hiding it, and we'd at least know about it, once the show was over). But I don't think there'll be one, anyway. But we do often see racism in that house, and I'd prefer to see it and discuss it, but it will all end up on the editing floor (unless the show bombs so badly in the ratings, they've nothing to lose). There will be a very tight editing culture on this show, and what's going to interest me is how they are going to create the interest without their usual tricks. I think we've seen a resourceful example through Noble's "accidental" OCD comment, but they're going to run out of options. This show cannot be popular because of outage or controversy, or BB really is in big trouble for the future. BB and the current censorship climate don't mix. So let's hope we at least get a good show because of this, and that yes, on the whole, there are some housemates who will provide something interesting (as they drown in tasks and cross-promotions, though - which is always going to dumb the show down). Cheers, Aaron
