I think you're confused! And I did imagine this would happen, because I know a lot of you (probably most) have arrived at this site on it's own merits. I actually started a thread in The Mic when I put that poll up to add some explanation, but it's fallen from the top 5 now, so I suppose a lot of people are now wondering what the hell that poll means!

 

I'm not talking about the OFFICIAL Big Brother website - I couldn't give a rats about who is looking forward to that, no! Eyeonbigbrother.com was actually my older site, before this one. In some ways, it was vaguely similar to this one, except all our discussions were based around the Big Brother TV show, and a lot of it was a kind of streaming live-blogging style. It was very different, actually, but at the end of the day, we were still discussing similar things. I used something very accessible to people - something that likes to flaunt itself as being somehow intellectually relevant - to create a different mindset around the show, and to use it to actually get people thinking about what they were watching. Some of this was about the actual production, and some of it was about the broader socal issues, etc, as seen in the behaviours, etc, of the housemates, as well as the public reactions to these issues (and how the press dealt with them and exploited them, etc, etc). 

 

So, I wanted to start that poll to get a feel for how many people are left over from that site, and how many people are looking forward to it again (knowing that while it's on, this site will be closed). Most people from this site left after it's closure, and didn't jump on this one (it was a mainstream affair) - we had 100,000 visitors in three months, so it was much bigger (and was supposed to be - or, at very least, I knew I'd have to start from scratch in some ways with this one, and rebuild a different kind of audience, even though I also recognised that I'd have a great bunch of people who would easily handle, and enjoy, the transition to this site). 

 

There have been many references to it along the way in this site, so some people who have been here for a while and have read a lot of this site's stuff, will have an idea about the BB site I did, and will know whether they are interested or not. If you have never heard of it before now, and don't have a great feel for it, I'd suggest not answering the question. But regardless, this is what it refers to, and although you don't mention it specifically in your letter, I get the feeling you thought I was referring to the official site. I'm not.
