Hi

I'm now being hassled to fork out money for the I Phone. Anyone here got one? Am I totally wasting money on it or is it as necessary as I've been assured it is?

I have no personal experience with it, but always be careful when buying first release technology, it's nearly always full of bugs that are ironed out for the second release (which happens very quickly and leaves all the people who rushed out and bought the first ones with an outdated shitty product). I say wait a while, if you're going to buy one - they'll have a better one at a better price, before you know it.

Also, it's called the "iphone". One word, no capitals (like "itunes", etc).

Hi

I have an iPhone. I got the first generation one and "hacked" it. (I'm sure Mr Jobs didn't mind my $500 US!).

It all depends on your needs. I'm pretty much an Apple Mac freak and for me it was a dream come true!...LOL In all seriousness, if you can see yourself needing email on the go, surfing the net, listening to music etc...it's great. As a phone it does have its downsides though. (The phone ring is hardly loud enough and bluetooth n it is a myth!)

In general if you se yourself needing an all in one device go for it. Be wary of the deals and plans you choose. Be sure that you need the data offered etc...

Overall I'm quite happy with it and I'm glad I bought one from the states. I'm going to keep it for a little while longer because the prices here in oz are highway robbery...I'll asses again in the near future.

JUST DO YOUR HOMEWORK...read everything carefully and be aware of the carrier and plan you choose. (I'd say optus is your best bet at the moment...Hellstra's prices are a joke!)
