Re:So You Think You Can Dance? - 2008/02/19 14:05
Great review Aaron. Already we can see your thoughts coming to fruition with the elimination of B-Boy Khaly who had to dance jazz or something. It was painful to watch.

I felt really sorry for him. He seemed almost resigned to the fact he would be eliminated after he had danced.

And yes, already so many narratives are being played out. Sermsah's tragedy has been highlighted throughout the auditions. He is the darkhorse I feel.

I'm a big one on conspiracy theories in television - I am a big believer in the producers having a plan to have certain contestants eliminated in reality TV shows. It will be interesting to see if this is the case with SYTYCD with the so-called "random" dance allocations and pairings.

I really hope Natalie/Delta can fix up her cross-eyed look as she reads the autocue.

Sarah, can you be my mum????!!!!

I thought it was so so. Aaron, you're comment about Natalie walking out of the Hugos toilets was priceless! Bless her cotton socks, she's really quite awful.

I agree! Sarah for mum of the year!

You can always show them youtube.

By the way, I changed that embedded youtube video over in the article, because a few people have asked me where they an see the American version to compare. So, if you go to the end of the article, you can now watch a portion of the American equivalent. I think even watching it on a grainy youtube video, in comparison to watching the Aussie one on my tv, the difference in energy and performance comes through very clearly. The poor Australian one just can't compete with it.

Hopefully I am way too young to be your mum...but it is delicious to think that when my kids get bigger they might engage in the kind of critical thinking that leads people like you to this site...

My clan made me watch this! It was alright, it killed some time and it's definitely a better show for the young ones to watch than that high school popularity contest. Didn't see the American one but I guess they're gonna have better dancers. One thing I noticed was that the judges seem to be judging them in that clip you showed based on more technical stuff. The Australian one just seemed to be to tell them they were all wonderful. I'll see it again if I'm forced to... which will probably be the case!

In regards to the Australian talent here is a bit of goss for you guys!

Just like the Ten producers have done in the past with Idol for reasons of credibility (remember Bobby Flynn), well due to their recognition of the lack of talent in this current season of SYTYCD? the Ten producers approached the cast of the musical Priscilla to either get some talent or "credibility".

I found out this bit of info from a friend who is one of the cast members of Priscilla, so make of this what you will, but it just seems to be another bit of contrived reality TV from Ten for me.
