Underbelly, who's been watching it?

I find it entertaining.

I've read the news stories about the Morans and others and yes, I recognise some of the episodes reflecting those events. Yet, it's clearly a drama which used real events for it's inspiration.

I find it interesting that they've decided to portray the criminals as living fairly well to do life styles.

When the reality is more likely to be the opposite for most criminals.

More like the guy killed in the episode aired in Sydney on 5/3/08. He was a full on junkie, hadn't eaten in days but had delusional grandiose ideas for the future.

Well, it's mafia, so I suppose they were fairly well off. But of course that's why there's such a mafia genre, out there, it is vaguely glorifying it by its nature, the way it associates it with an aspirational concept. Look at The Sopranos, people actually LIKE the crims in it, that's how it works!

I have a feeling the police think it is nice PR against the crims - and on the whole, it is, it will certainly help get that conviction, which is why the legal system have happily protected Nine's investment - but I watched a little bit of it, and it's still a boy's TV show, to me, where it's the excitement of vicariously leading the dodgy life. But I haven't watched enough, I don't like Australian cop shows, and to me, it was really just another Aussie cop show, it's dead lucky it got that publicity. I won't be tuning in, again, I must say.
