Please report site problems - 2006/11/14 23:10
Hi,

Just want to ask everyone that if they have any problems with these forum boards, please message me with whatever those problems are. You can click my profile, and simply "send private message" (or you can email, but it's easier to send a private message).

We had a sharp rise in hits today (after being mentioned on another site), and as usual, the high numbers have caused some elements to become unstable. This seems fixed now, but it's hard for me to know what exactly is going wrong if I'm not hearing about it. So I've had a couple of mails tonight about the forums. I know that ocassionally these forums double-post. Firstly, make sure you've cliked "submit" just the once. If it stalls, dont click it again, it will evntually give you two. But if it does happen regardless, just go into one and "edit" it, leaving it blank. If it's straight away, I can delete it, but when I delete posts completely, I'm deleting everything that comes after it too, so all I can do is just blank it, and you can actually do that yourself.

But if there's any other problems, and if you submit a post that doesn't appear, then please let me know. But I've reset the forums now, and that should do it.

Thanks

I noticed in another thread that you said that you lost a lengthy post during the site hic-cup yesterday.

Not sure if this suggestion is workable but when I know that I'm going to type a long post or message, I type it out on the computers word-processor first. I then save it, cut it and then paste it into the forum/message box. If it were to go missing or something else happens to it upon submission, then I wouldn't have to worry about re-typing it as I would already have a saved copy of it in my word-processor. This also helps me avoid any possible Page Refresh command that might come up.

Another simpler solution could be just to highlight the text and copy it, then if something goes wrong, all you have to do is paste the copy back into the new post/message box.

Hi Aaron,

I've actually not been on the forums for a couple of weeks because I was having problems, but it's all gold now. So whatever you did last night to fix them seems to have worked.

I'm no longer mute! Oh goody!

I am not sure if its the site or me. Quite possibly its me.
I am trying to unsubscribe to the Idol topic and dont need reminding of each post that cmes in. I go to my profile but quite unsure where to go from there. I am trying also to send a message to another subscriber. If cut reasds this... yes its me!
