You only have to watch her show a few times to see she is clearly intelligent and in my opinion, is not being cynical when she 'exposes' the secrets of the beauty world - she's telling it like it is. I really don't think she's as trashy as you think she is! And anyway even if she is I like her for being real. She's really funny!!!
This clip must have had some kind of context to it so that it made sense - she wouldn't have just been rolling around like that for no reason!
Also - America's next top model is my fave show. I love watching bitchy hungry girls having a walk-off (or pose-off)...hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you see in about the first episode or so when she came out acting like a diva? Lol it was funny, and she was overacting way to much. Has anyone seen the disney movie Life Size? I watched it ages ago on pay tv or something one day when I was bored. I didn't realise until a few months ago that Tyra was in it lol. From memory she didn't do that bad a job acting wise in it.

I think it's horrendous, and it was one of those moments where you just think, "Wow..... America. Wow." A black kind of comedy, but at a level where we can at least have a laugh - which is why I put it up here. But I understand my sarcasm can become ambiguous amongst so many articles where I'm being deadly serious about the media apocalypse! So for anyone wondering or unsure, I should just clear up that I'm not really too concerned with Revolution Tyra (that however popular at the moment, I'm sure will be over in five minutes). I think it's tragic, and I think that moment is foul. I don't agree with Pat in terms of her exposing of beauty myths being "real" - I mean, c'mon, it's a Vaseline cross-promotion!!! It's hardly real. She is the epitome of modelling, and she does, after all, still host the supermodel show (which makes money off luring young women into the very industry of the beauty myth). But still, I think it's funny, and that's really all I was doing, just putting up a youtube I found that I thought was worth it for a laugh (all be it in a black social way).

Re:Tyra banks to the loony side - 2006/11/14 14:12 Oh yeah I forgot to add, I actually watched part of the show yesterday, and from what I saw, she was dressed in the 'fat suit' and went on 3 blind dates which were secretly filmed, so she could 'expose' what large women go through in terms of dating and stuff. At the end of each date she told the guy she was with who she really was, then back in the studio she interviewed the guys about their reactions. I also saw at the end there was one of the ex top model contestants dressed up/made up into someone 'ugly' to find out what that's like as well. And also she had on a guest who was a normal everyday person (not a celeb in other words lol) who was very unhappy because she thought she was ugly because of her teeth, and didn't like smiling, so Tyra was going to pay for her to get cosmetic surgery. She also did that last ANTM cycle for a couple of the contestants - Danielle (the winner) who had a gap between her top front teeth, Tyra got it fixed, and also Joanie (the runner up) who had huge snaggle teeth and crooked ones too, these were fixed up too.

It's not addressing the ideology behind this dynamic, because in the end, she's promoting the resolution by paying huge amounts of money for surgery!! How does that help all the women with body image problems at home who don't have Tyra there to spend her model money on them?! So I love the idea of someone debunking the model myths, but not Tyra Banks! And not as long as she hosts tv shows about being the next top model, and uses cross-promotions for her revelations. Even if that scene is supposed to be somehow tongue in cheek, it's just wrong coming from HER! Of all people!
