Firstly, how bad was the casting on this season? The worse ever I would say without a doubt. Whoever thought a season where most of the HMs were 22 or younger should be shot right now. Pretty much every housemate was difficult to like that much, except maybe Nathan. All of them had such flawed personalities that they really weren;t likeable people. Travis may have been an exception to this rule, however even he got really annoying towards the end of the show.
I have also started watching bb04 after missing alot of that season, as it was my first year out of school and well..I was drunk. Lol. The comparisons are amazing. Aaron will disagree but I think 04 was actually better than 03 and maybe 02 as well. The mix of hms was spot on, every hm added something to the mix with the exception of maybe Elle. The right person won as well, which is an exception to the rule.
brief comments on the 08 hms
1. Saxon. Well this guy tried to act nice, but couldn't even last a week before his true colours came out. Although he was a top-notch A hole, he probably would have been worth a few more weeks, for pure entertainment sake
2. Rebecca. Well...her and I were born on the exact same day. She's not bad looking. But otherwise, Rebecca was as fake a person that I have ever seen in my life. She went in purely to get a zoo contract, and had no intention of particpating fully in the house. Terible casting, but Rebecca will find it tough in life once her looks fade. She wants to go to uni next year? Do us all a favor and stick to bar tending Bec. You aren't smart enough. Trust me. I barely am at times.
3. David/Nathan. Done together because..well I couldn't be bothered separating them. Nathan was a nice guy...and I would have liked him in the house especially if Renee had gone earlier before him. He was too mature for most of the young kids in the house to really connect with them. Dave? too nice, had some interesting stories than never made it to Tv i'm sure though. One thing that annoyed me was they only showen about a minute of David and Nathan's convo on his cult, then went straight back to Dixie and Bianca bitching! oh dear i know it's BB but please....
4. Dixie. A poor example to indigenous people everywhere one things. Sure she got edited poorly, but stealing food is never good, even if your culture tells you it's ok to steal from your family. Poor casting again one feels. She broke down and cried too much so early for me to warm to her. probaly edited unfairly, but...blah.
5. Renee. Did she go next? anyway.......surprised that she went so early. Maybe a bit too bogan for the young kids to keep her in the house. Terrible video to the house after she left, I think probably edited more favouable than she deserved.
6. Nobbi. yea i'm missing a few ppl but I wanted to get to Nobbi. Nobbi basically threw 250k down the drain because he didn't keep his ego in check. Clearly given a postive edit, and with fans feeling sorry for him over the kombi, he was the most popular hm for quite a while. But slowly, Nobbi got bored. Nobbi got mean. Nobbi bullied...Nobbi upset Brigette (we will get to that disgrace in aminute). Nobbi upset Al and Trav. Nobbi releved himself to be a bit of an A hole by the time he left. If he had kept his thoughts to himself...played the game like he was at the start,,he may have won this very weak edition. But Nobbi lety his ego control his actions. And threw away the money.
7. Rhianna. An attractive girl that seemed nice, but very thick. Was given a fairly postive edit, but it didn't really matter. The young girls would have voted her out for being a skank even if she wasn't one. The fact she fell for a sleaze like Rory brought her down alot to me. Clearly has no standards, which is a shame.
8. Terrence. Strange, strange man. Why he wanted to go on BB is beyond me. If he really thought he could 'help ' these kids, he truely is an idiot. Must have wanted attention of some sort, maybe insecure after his marriage breakup. Edited very negatively, but I think his negatives in the house outweighted his postives. Did not, however, deserve the flak that he got after the show for showering naked.
9. Brigette. Where to start? Brigette represnts all that is wrong about people of my age and younger. A paris Hilton wannabe who thought she could treat people anyway she wanted. Calling people freaks and telling them to die is not only rude, immature and catty, it's also just stupid. The fact this waste of space had such a big fan base again explains how stupid some of my generation (admittingly teens so a bit younger than me) are. A disgusting human being with disgusting parents. Her dad made a right prat of himself on tv. I hope he and brigette get beated up some dad. Maybe it will show them once and for all that money does not equal class.
10 Bianca. I did like B, I just thought she went too far with her anger st times. We didn't see much of her intellect in the house, unfortunately. I'm sure she does have a brain, but the BB machine wouldn't let us see it enough. Much more interesting to talk about her boobs, ai? she looked gorgeous towards the end of her time in the house, and if I was benny I would have jumped all over her. But, he didn't feel the same way, so that's life. One of the only HMs that deserved to be there, and in another season may have shined alot more than she did.
11. Cherry. Cherry, cherry cherry. A person that played the game from start to finish. why he wanted to hook up with Brigette is beyond me. He also was naive to continue to target Rory given Rory had survived many evictions. A typical 'stud' who has next to no respect for women, but, as a person not the worst guy in the world. He did help Trav out in the spa incident, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.
12. Alice. Didn't really like or dislike her that much. Seemed a bit too eager to please. Struggled to connect with alot of the house. Too much treadmill. That's about all really!
13. Travis. Travo! A unique young man, if nothing else. Stands by his principals, but also has a huge amount of growing up to do, even more than me hehe. A child in a childs body who was 20. But, an enertaining character who was fun to watch. His feminine side was much discussed, and I do wonder about whether Trav may be bi-sexual in facBut who cares really? Trav was a great character to watch on tv, and deserved to make the final three in my book.
14. Ben. I liked Ben, but I'm not sure about him. He seemed to be a bit too much of a yes man. As Terri said, he was just a normal young 19 yr old. I think had he been in the 04 season (hypothcial of course) he would have gone fairly early, about the same time as Elle did. He played the game well at times, but at other times stuffed up. Spraying trav could have meant an early boot for him, but he wasn't nominated so was saved. the fact he didn' t want to spoon B in the house made me realise even more what a stragetic game he was playing.
Ben's humour was his strongpoint. not to everyone's cup of tea, but mildly amusing all the same!
15. Rory. A sleazy young man, but not the worse bloke in the world. An example of the stupidity of young woman in going for guys like him though. He cares,,enough till he get's what he want's . But, aside from his childish antics (helicopter) Rory liked a good argument, and didn't like Brigette which bought him up in my book. Probably lucky to make it as far as he did..but he' ll take it.
16. Terri. rigged. that's all I have to say, rigged, she was one of probably 3 hms who were meant to win and when they self-destrcuted (Nobbi, Brigette) she was always going to be the winner by default. Racist for sure, no matter how she might spin it. But, she did provide good conversation..and did connect well with her gen Y flatties. Her win had alot more to do with her upbringing than anything she did in the house though. Alecia last year and now her...neither deserved to win in my book.
So ends BB in australia, at least. Lest we forget.
