Bagging Big Brother - 2007/04/19 13:29 I don't think I can stand 3 months of BB bagging, which, let's face it, is what this whole site will be devoted to over this time period. BB is what it is - if everyone thinks it is so lame and abhorent you know you don't really have to watch it...
I, myself, am looking forward to it - I LOVE watching Big Brother, although I totally agree with Aaron's previous insights into the show - it is a shocker, but I love it! Maybe that makes me cruel and heartless to watch these poor innocent people led like lambs to the slaughter but hey, too bad. I couldn't abide the reality of all that turkey slap crapola from last year, but I still loved watching the aftermath.
If you hate it, don't watch it. If you watch it then accept it for the crap it is and stop whinging about how bad and lame it is.

Re:Bagging Big Brother - 2007/04/19 14:22 Ever heard of "critical thinking", bridge????
I think you miss the point of the site, I've gotta say. It's not about bagging something out. It's about critical analysis of media and society using an icon of the times (but it's now a fading one, if you ask me). And alot of it is extremely uplifting. I remember Aaron at one point being "bagged" out for being too positive towards those on the show he liked!
So I guess you can exercise your consumer right and not indulge (one may ask why people spend time bagging out people for bagging out?). But keep in mind that it's not really any different from this site, except that it's about Big Brother. Actually if anything it gets more tongue in cheek than here (unless you're changing the tone this byear, Aaron - sorry if you don't agree with what i'm describing it as, feel free to correct me!), but it can get pretty serious if it needs to (it was The Eye's response to the turkeyslap that was so impressive and I remember it being so grounded in the middle of that intense reaction around it). It's not about the "vitriol" (has anyone else noticed how much BB fans love using this word in forums??), it's about being aware of the social and media environment and having a look at things way beyond fifteen people in some stupid tv show.

I too was wondering why Aaron would spend three months on this show, but I've got to say, I like what I've read so far. I think to call the show "crap" implies that it is shallow and harmless, and I don't think that's the case. And I call "whinging", "thinking".
Each to their own, Bridge Looks like a lot of people enjoy whinging about BB. But maybe they just enjoy looking at popular culture and using something shallow to look a little deeper into the world we live in? And isn't that what Gretel herself keeps telling us the show is for?
Also, I reckon the show wouldn't agree with you, Bridge! I reckon the biggest irony is that it is probably going to attract more viewers to the show because the "love to hate it" crowd will be following it.
I guess I'll be one of them

Nope, no coincidence - it is me! I was going to use the same username as before but accidently put in my password as my username... oh well. Anyway, don't be scared, I've now converted to Scientology....
As far as the whinging goes, I wasn't referring to Aaron's articles I was referring to the forums.
