Sex in Parks - 2008/11/13 17:21
Apparently the police have been getting nasty at a sydney park. according to livenews http://www.livenews.com.au/Articles/2008/11/13/Gay_activists_campaign_for_sex_in_parks

The group Community Action Against Homophobia is holding a sit in at the sydney park this Saturday between 11pm and 3am in the AIDS memorial grove.

I have written a comment on livenews.
I am one of those people who like to have sex in public places. i dont go around doing it when others are around lol. but i do enjoy having sex out in the fresh air. its a bit of a thrill too. i would hate for the cops to come and catch me and tell me to stop.

what do others think

Eh. No thanks. I'm one of those prudish people who prefers it in the privacy of their house. If I wanted fresh air, I could always open a window.

I do think there is homophobia behind the police intervention in areas which are known as gay pick up areas.

I also think that police and media attention on such areas helps fuel the concept that "they are different" and the view that a (generally male) gay lifestyle is different to traditional relationships.

A main reason people have sex outside is not necessarily for the thrill (although that can come into it) but because they don't feel like they can go home.

I would say most of us have some sexual experience in cars from when we were teenagers.

I don't know... is the park safe? Most of us would be lead to believe no, but we all know that moral panic and the media feed that. Are there other undesirable elements? Drug use (personally this would bother me but littering, especially of dangerous paraphernalia does).

Back up to the homophobia and moral panic, this is another way to divide the gay community. You have your “good” gays who own terrace houses, register their relationship and own cafes and you have your “bad” gays who trawl for your teenage sons in the dark corners of “those parks” feeding their drug habit.

It may be that you will think I am prudish also but I find the idea of sex in a park quite scary and a little bit grubby.

On an intellectual level I don't really have a problem with people doing it (apart from the possibility of the practice appealing to the rather more predatory element in our society), but there is something deep down in me which instinctively shies away from the idea.

I have had friends who do this and enjoy it enormously, and who have, on occasion, made me feel very small-minded and prudish for not being comfortable with the idea. The fact that they have reacted this way to me doesn't help their cause in this respect (to my mind).

However, if it's what you want to do, and you can find a way of doing it without impinging upon other people, then I say knock yourself out and have fun

Just please, please be careful and keep youself safe.
Some people are like slinkies, not really good for anything, but they still make you smile when you push them down some stairs.

i always keep myself safe helio. i just wanted to hear from someone in the gay community who did this but it must be secret gay business. i must be really out there hey.

oh well. i just hate the way they are carrying on over at livenews. all the gay haters and homophobs are out. i have been told i have no morals for having sex in the park and at the beach with my husband, he is now my ex but you get the pic.
i will still have sex under the stars, it must be because i lived on the farm, i like being one with nature lol
silly old me
